Five startups successfully completed their four-month accelerator programme by pitching to investors during YouStartIT Demo Day on Friday 8th March 2019.

YouStartIT#4 started with a total of seven startups selected by a panel of judges after pitching at the YouStartIT#4 Pitching Day event held on 5th October 2018 during the DELTA Summit. The original selected startups were:

Applications for YouStartIT#4 closed on Monday 10 September with a record number of 173 applications received from 40 different countries.

After evaluating the applications, 13 startups were pre-selected and invited to attend an intensive bootcamp from 1st to 3rd October at the MITA Innovation Hub.  This shortlist of startups (shown below) then delivered their pitch at Malta’s leading innovation event called DELTA Summit on 5 October. The date of kick-off for the YouStartIT#4 cohort of startups was on 5th November 2018. All startups pursued their respective projects achieving various milestones on three levels: (i) MVP design, build and deploy coupled with business planning and strategy building; (ii) incorporation and legal and (iii) social impact agenda.

Throughout the entire process the startups engaged with as many as 15 private mentors providing different inputs of relevance to each startup’s project. In addition support and assistance by PwC for company formation, Ganado Advocates for various legal advice, Beat Consulting on Business Planning, Go and Vodafone covering various other aspects related to investment, strategic planning and customer engagement. The programme culminated in a Demo Day on 8th March 2019 during which the cohort presented their work to an audience of business angels and other institutional funders and investors.

What each selected startups got during the 16-week intake?

● €20,000 in cash disbursed in installments against the agreed deliverables
● €10,000 worth of mentoring and support services comprising around 90 contact hours with our in-house mentors over the 16-week intake period, 20 hours of legal services by Ganado Advocates, 5 hours of business planning advice by Beat Consulting, and access to our 24×7 co-working space enjoying breathtaking sea views
Pro bono mentoring provided by several of our seasoned entrepreneurs and functional experts from our network of mentors; these also included experts from Go plc and Vodafone
● Company formation, including specific tax, accounting and financial advice by PwC Malta
● Technology and cloud perks from AWS, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure and ZenDesk
